I will post a few sketches of my progress as I work on this design and hopefully have a final reveal via facebook.

Scale Crusher 2011 was a success, but we wanted to change up the logo for a new and better design for Scale Crusher 2012. I came up with several ideas quickly and I really enjoy working through the conception and design process. Here’s a few mock up designs we considered before narrowing it down to the final design. Funny story…the SportsMX CEO preferred to not use the weightlifting design that was used previously because if you wear on a t-shirt, it kind of put the weights on each end of the bar in a peculiar section of an individual’s chest. The best part about the final design is that the CEO loves it and really liked the meter arrow that it points to where your heart is if you wear the design on a T-shirt.

Finally, we launched the new and updated SportsMX’s website last month. It was a long project and somewhat difficult to transfer all the details from the old site to the new one. Since this is a news/media website, there was a lot of work put into the project to make sure that everything translated smoothly.

It was also difficult to make a decision about the actual web design. The goal was to make the site more simple and easy to navigate. There was a lot involved to revamp this site to include a new scoreboard system that no one has done before for SportsMX. This is still new and we look forward to keep expanding more scoreboard features in the future. Oh yes, we also added a new video that allows people to browse around, comment, and share comments through social media. We believe this new site will be able to evolve more easily in the future. We will continue to work together with the SportsMX team and designers/developers from time-to-time to update and improve this site. This site has a lot of potential and is very promising as a source of sports media in the future. You can see the live site at: www.sportsmx.com

It was really important to the client that the design was represented by using “Beast” from the title. The words that came to mind were tough and extreme with California style. I designed several really cool cartoonish monsters that chomped the volleyball. The clients were pleased with the design and I believe it will help them to attract participants in the event and improve their event profit. It’s an easy design with a simple color theme and was pretty fascinating. In the end, I was in awe of the outcome. I imagine that adults and kids alike will love to wear their t-shirts with the revamped design. Which brings us to our next project! I really love doing this kind of stuff!

Updated Aug 2011: After Jamie used his logo, he decided that he really wanted to add “Kitchen” in the logo design since lot of people thought that he should and because there is already some people operating under the “JAK Photography” name out there. Jamie wanted a name that was different and original so it’s now “J.A.Kitchen Photography.”

International Alpha Sigma Pi Alumni Association, non-profit organization wanted several designs to use on different products at cafepress.com. I created a few very simple but eye-catching designs for their use. One typography we used gave the group a college feeling since they are orginally founded at a University. Another one was more gothic using black and gold colors since their mascot is a cobra. These very simple designs gave them more choices for a variety of products.

Last Spring 2008, Leaning House Fine Cigars’ vision and concept was two cats leaning on a house. After the client saw our sketch and rough draft of the design, they decided that they wanted two different logo designs. One simple concept for embroidery on apparel and another design with more detail for a variety of purposes. The process was a great experience for them to understand how changing the colors from one to two colors to more than three colors could affect the designs and how they use the artwork in promotions.
